How you think the sound in your chosen example has been produced (production techniques)
I think the sound has been produced electronically with a singer performing the lyrics. It could have been made with a piano mixed with synthesised sounds. With repetitive beats in the background as to keep the tempo.
What post production techniques have been used to create the soundtrack?
I think an echo has been added to the woman’s voice, I very faint echo to the woman’s voice, perhaps a reverb has been added to the piano notes. Also the woman’s voices has been a little distorted on some o the lyrics
How the sound design of your chosen examples might enhance the gaming experience for audiences?
The beats can increase the pace of the game increasing the experience. As it is the fast paced game it is a faced pace game. The lyrics match the game because at any point in the game you can die, the lyrics ‘still alive’ emphasise this.
How you think the sound in your chosen example has been produced (production techniques)
I think the example I have chosen has been made with drum kit, violins and a solo woman’s voice, recorded separately. Also the sequencing seems to consist of first the drums then the violin in the background then the woman’s voice eventually joining in. Being backed up by the drums and the violin working together to create a background harmony.
What post production techniques have been used to create the soundtrack?
In the soundtrack it seems the drums have been aided with an echo effect and a lowered pitch whilst the violins volume has been raised up against the drums to create a higher pitch noise backed up by a lower pitch and lower volume drum set. The woman’s voice seems to be synthesised to have a reverb. It seems the sounds have also been layered in my opinion it goes, Drums then violin then the woman’s voice.
How the sound design of your chosen examples might enhance the gaming experience for audiences?
I think it increases the sense of the world the player is in since it’s kind of a dark time world, where people are after you so the music is of low pitch to get that effect of being chased or being lonely, also the music is gets the feel of a fantasy game which the game actually is, so it works well with the game itself.
How you think the sound in your chosen example has been produced (production techniques)
I think the soundtrack has been made with a piano, a woman’s voice, a violin, an acoustic guitar and maybe a cello. All recorded separately and put together later on in the production. However since the soundtrack was made only a few years ago it is likely that the sounds were software based rather than actually made with real instruments.
What post production techniques have been used to create the soundtrack?
I think the woman’s voice has been edited to create an echo along with a delay as well. The piano keys sound like a reverb has been added to them and the violins seems to have a delay or some sort of distortion effect. The sequencing of the sound seems the same throughout the soundtrack apart from the end and start of the track, the voice and violin are the base instruments for this piece of music.
How the sound design of your chosen examples might enhance the gaming experience for audiences?
Well the music put the player in the environment this sort of sounds like mid century Italy which is where the game was based in. The music kind of gives out a lonely vibe at first, which is similar to the game as the player progresses he loses his family so it combines quite well with the storyHow you think the sound in your chosen example has been produced (production techniques)
I think the music was produced with first starting off with an electric guitar then later on combining it with drums and a violin, the violin creating the harmonisation. The guitar takes up most of the soundtrack. Some of the electric sounds, sound like they were synthesised, if not most of them are. The tracks seem to be layered rather than all recorded at once.
What post production techniques have been used to create the soundtrack?
I think the producer of the sound added a reverb and maybe an echo the sound to get that really mechanical electric sound which makes the action more intense, then it is repeated 2 more times to create a longer soundtrack. I think also with the guitar they may have decreased the pitch of the strums while adding an echo to it, if you listen at the beginning you can slightly tell that they have done this. They might have used some sound compression to neaten up the combination of the guitar drums and violin.
How the sound design of your chosen examples might enhance the gaming experience for audiences?
The sound is very active; at key points in the sound you can really tell the action gets very intense. It creates more action in the players mind to make the experience better for the player. When the violin hits high point, that’s when the music seems most intense.

I think the soundtrack has been made with violins and a set of percussion instruments like drums and symbols, with men’s voices making the choir sounding parts, with at the end a single piano.
What post production techniques have been used to create the soundtrack?
I think they have added a reverb to create a natural space and distance feel. Each of the different sounds has been faded in to combine them together, rather than them just jumping in. I believe the sound that companies the piano at the end was synthesised.
How the sound design of your chosen examples might enhance the gaming experience for audiences?
The fast beats with the intensity of the violin can create that sound cause adrenaline needed to make a FPS much more dramatic, plus with the sense of the space and distant creates the feel of the setting, which in this case is space, so creating that sense of distance along with a massive space is a very important factor which was created perfectly. Also the end creates that sense of harmony after the battle.
